The internet can open up a door of fanasty and trouble free life to some people. It’s like the staple commerical with one tap of the easy button every thing seems so care free. However, with all this technology at our finger tips we still find a way to mis use and abuse it. The internet is not a person, yet people seem to immerse themselves iinto the world of the web. The web gives us what we lack in society, yet it makes you mor ewithdrawn from the real world.

@Charlethe Davis, I disagree. It depends on what you would use the internet for. you can use it to fool around or you can use it as a source for researching, studying, or find solutions to a problem. It is true that the internet has addicted some individuals and there were some cases that internet pron has broken marriages but, chatting with someone on the other side doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re treating a computer as a person.

With so many ways to communicate through technology we have become less human, more automated and solely dependent upon technology. Where do we draw the line with Technology? Is it in our personal lives where we don’t have real conversations with our kids? Is it in our workplace where we don’t know how to approach our bosses? Although technology has made it easier for us to send and recieve messages it’s taking up space for some of the more important things. Sendind an email with a happy face doesn’t isn’t the same as seeing the person smile. Sending a funny text message with (LOL) doesn’t feel the same as hearing the person laugh. We all can agree technology saves us time, But we still need to be able to connect with people face to face.

@Charlotte Leatherwood, I agree with you completely! People need to step away from the computer, cell phones and any other technological device and talk to people to see emotion on their face. I like the comment you made about the happy face in an eamil and the lol in a text. It is not the same as seeing a smiling face or enjoying the sound of someones laughter.

@Charlotte Leatherwood, I agree with you completely! We need to get away from using so much technology and reconnect with people on a much more personal level not just through email, text, phone calls or postings. It is so much different hearing good news from someone fact to face to their facial expressions as opposed to receiving it in an email. Also, with text messaging its better to hear someone laughs to enjoy it then get an LOL text message.

@Krista Harper, I am guilty of those two things. Those are only two examples of how technology plays a role in our everyday lives. 95% of my work requires me to sit at the computer, so I’m definitely guilty of the that one. As for the texting if it’s important i’d call and leave a message.

@Charlotte Leatherwood, I agree with you Charlotte. Communicating via email take away the personal touch. Handwritten letters are more personal and have an art form. Receiving a handwritten letter means a lot when you are communicating with a loved one, especially one you have not seen in a long time. Handwritten letters allows you to be creative by including drawings of smile and your favorite romantic stamp. It also allows you to be romantic by adding a drop of perfume on a decorative paper and sealing an envelop with a lipstick kiss. Emails do not have that personal quality

While the internet is a tool that we would not be able to live without if it was taken away from us today. We have become so dependent on the World Wide Web that we have loss human interaction in the process. The internet is a resource full invention but we have become so involved in it we forget that it is much more important to a face to face meeting then a webinar. Many people and even children have been harmed by the use of email, Face Book, MySpace and Twitter because people have misunderstood a post or message that someone else wrote. The internet is an invaluable resource; however, people need to setup away from the keyboard and talk to each other over a pot of coffee.

In summary people of all ages enjoys going on face book.
They all put their picture of themselves on the website so that family members and friends can know who they’re making contact with. Face book is also considers an excellent way to find long last families who have not seeing each other for years.
Face book do bring people together like the daughter who was searching for father, and one day later she got a message on face book a man wrote back claiming to be her dad she place a photograph of herself on face book.

@eugenie mcDonald, I’m torn with facebook, because eventhough it’s great for catching up with people, and meeting old family members you still have to look out for the problems that being involve with that brings. You have to watch what you say and becarful of who you choose to be friends with.

@eugenie mcDonald, for me, Facebook is like Big Brother is watching. I like to view my teenage daughter’s Facebook page weekly. Viewing my daughter’s Facebook page tells me what’s going on with her. I’m sure its not 100% of everything she does -but it does give me an idea of who her friends are at school. Per the comments/pictures posted, you can sense the activities that took place at school, parties and games. The internet is a great tool for parents to use because many teenagers are sending inappropriate pictures of themselve to friends and alot of kids are being bullying online. Parents must get involve.

face book is okay to communicate with other people but face to face is more personal.

charolette I too enjoy the internet but for research only, because trouble is always lurking on the internet.

Social networking has become a staple in our society. Websites such as Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn has become household names that people of all ages can use to chat, reach families or to simply meet new people. This new technology is great for busy pace at which the economy is going. Although it has become a trend, not all individuals agree with it, fearing the lack of “in-person” contact. Like it or not, social networking has become an always will be a way of life.

King Thomas, I agree with you the more people spend their time on the computer the less time people spend with their families, shopping, and watching television with other people. The lack of face-to-face communication with humans decreases the brain neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin, which are intended to lessen anxiety. For example, a Florida Power & Light (FPL) customer service representative may not be sympathetic to a customer calling to complain about their high light bill over the phone; whereas, face-to-face communication could reassure the customer that all their needs and concerns will be address with humility and compassion.

Is communication via internet a success or are we progressing so fast and recklessly that it has become a bigger problem? The internet is one of the best sources to communicate and research. Though some people may not use it for all the right reasons, it is mostly a very reliable source for everything, and it allows us to do things quickly and easily. Today’s internet is a progress heading in the right direction. The truth is, the internet is here to stay and we can’t go back. The internet has brought a world of information and instant communication to our fingertips. As a relatively new technology, the internet does have its problems, but as we learn to use this technology more effectively we can begin to combat its current drawbacks.

@Margaret Denson, Margaret, this world is based on the Internet, but lets not limit this to the internet, lets say technology. You can use your cellphones to do the same thing that you do from your computer. Yes, the internet is a success but we are in control of what we use it for. Technology has become larger than life and thats where the problem is, it’s no longer a want it’s a need.

Technology has become the era of communication. With the invention of the internet and cell phones, you can communicate without face to face contact. Does this take away from human moments? Many believe that this is an issue that has its pros and cons.
